About the cards

Nine of Swords: has the thing you've been worrying about actually happened?

Pentacles StudioAbout a 2-minute read

The Nine of Swords shows someone sitting up at night, face in their hands. In a reading, I first help you separate what has happened from what you still fear.

The worry is real, but the guesses still need checking

"They're slow to reply. Does that mean they're not interested?" "They haven't said where they stand. Am I going to get hurt again?" Pisces' reading for July 2026 touched on questions like these. These thoughts are painful, but drawing cards alone can't confirm what someone else is thinking.

First look at what you actually know

Try writing it down: what the other person has really said and done, and what you're inferring. Check what you can when you get the chance; for what you don't know yet, allow it to go unanswered for now.

If the same worry keeps coming back, notice what situations bring it on, but don't rush to draw conclusions about yourself or the other person.

What about when it's reversed?

Sometimes it can be read as the pressure easing a little, or starting to be willing to talk about what's worrying you; it can also mean the worry is still there but not showing. Read it with the other cards. Upright or reversed alone can't tell you someone's state of mind.

When you can't sleep, take care of the practical needs first

When you're exhausted or panicking, leave big decisions until you've rested. If anxiety is already affecting your sleep and daily life, please see a psychiatrist or counsellor. In Taiwan you can also call the 1925 support line. Drawing cards can't replace diagnosis or treatment.
