The reader’s view
AI fortune telling or a human reader:
what’s the difference?

Lately a lot of clients have asked me whether AI fortune telling is accurate. My advice: if you have a correct birth chart, go ahead and ask AI to interpret it; for big decisions, it’s still better to talk to a human reader.
Then I thought, why not ask AI directly: what are the strengths and limits of AI fortune telling and of human readers? Its answer was thorough, and I added a few notes of my own.
AI says its charts are 100% accurate. I still see them go wrong
The first strength AI listed was a huge knowledge base: it can search classical texts and tarot meanings in an instant, and its Zi Wei Dou Shu and astrology charts are 100% accurate, with no calculation errors.
My first reaction: I still see them go wrong all the time.
A smooth answer still needs checking. Google’s own Gemini help pages warn that AI can present incorrect information as fact (Gemini help). Before asking AI to read a chart, check your birth details and the chart it produced; for tarot, write out the question, the cards drawn, their positions and whether each is reversed. If the data is wrong, however good the interpretation sounds, it’s going round in circles in the wrong place.
You can also ask one more question: “What is this based on? Which parts are guesses?” When a reading makes you want to believe it at once, or makes you afraid it’s true, that’s exactly when it’s worth stopping to think.
What you’d tell AI, you can tell me too
The second strength AI mentioned was privacy: in front of AI, people let their guard down more easily and type things they couldn’t say to a person, without worrying about being judged.
That one is true. Some clients start hesitating halfway through a sentence, and even when I can see something off in the cards, I have to prepare them before I say it.
If that sounds like you, write down what you want to ask at home and bring the note; or just tell me, “I’d rather not go into detail here,” and I’ll start from the cards. If you use AI, check how the platform handles what you type: finding it easy to open up and keeping your data safe are two separate things.
AI can’t read the room; a person can ask follow-up questions
AI admits two limits itself. One is missing the forest for the trees: it’s good at explaining a single star or card, but readings often need the whole picture, such as how each card in a spread pulls on the others. The other is that it can’t read the room: it can’t see you hesitate as you draw, or hear your voice catch when you talk about love.
Those are the parts I care about most in a one-on-one reading. If you say you want to change jobs, I want to know what’s hardest: the hours, the pay, the people, or the work itself. Each answer changes how the cards read, and whether the advice will fit your life.
Face to face or by video, I’ll notice a pause. A pause can mean many things, so I’ll still ask you; my intuition is where the questions start, and you’re the one who confirms.
Human readers have their pitfalls too
AI also listed the limits of human readers, and I think it got them right. One is uneven quality: some people use cold-reading tricks and sell anxiety to push luck-changing products. The other is projection: a reader may, without noticing, apply their own views on marriage or careers to the person asking.
So when you look for a human reader, check a few things: whether they’re willing to explain why they read a card that way, whether they respect your disagreement, whether they give you time to think, and whether they try to sell you something to “fix” it. I use the same checks on myself; what to check before choosing a tarot reader in Taipei is here.
What I’d suggest
AI’s own summary: AI fortune telling is like a giant dictionary of divination, good for quick charts, basic meanings or a small daily reference; a human reader is more like a life adviser, for big choices, when you need someone to think it through with you, or when complicated relationships are involved. I agree with that split.
If you’ve already talked it over with AI, you’re welcome to bring the answer that stayed with you. We can start from “why did this line hit me?” and see how it connects with where you are now.
