Add your birthday and the year together and you land on one of the 22 Major Arcana. That card can be the theme for the year, reminding you what to watch for.

How to work it out

  1. Add your birth month and birth day to the year you want to look at.
  2. If the number is greater than 22, add its digits together; if it's still greater than 22, add them again.
  3. If the result is 22, it corresponds to card 0, the Fool.

For example, born on 24 September, looking at 2026: 9 + 24 + 2026 = 2059, 2 + 0 + 5 + 9 = 16, so the year card is 16, The Tower.

To draw a full set of year cards, use the birthday year-ahead draw in the online reading app. It works out your year card first, then draws nine cards for the year.

Your year card gives a broad direction. It won't tell you the details of everything. The same card speaks of different things for someone changing jobs and someone who has just married.

How is a year card different from a year-ahead reading?

A year card is a single card worked out with a formula, and anyone can calculate their own. A year-ahead reading means I draw a set of cards for you and look at work, money, love and daily life in the coming year, set out what to watch for and when, and send it to you as a PDF. Year ahead NT$1,800; year ahead + month by month NT$4,200. Available in English.

Common questions

When does a tarot year start?
You can count the year from your birthday or from the new year. Pick one and stick with it, so it's less confusing when you look back.
Which card is 22?
22 corresponds to card 0, the Fool.
What if my year card is a "bad" card?
First see what the card is reminding you of. Cards like The Tower and Death often speak of change and clearing out; knowing early actually gives you time to prepare.

To talk in real time, choose a one-on-one reading; to read slowly, choose a written reading. If you're not sure, tell me what you want to ask on LINE.
